Send real-time school events with the Webhooks LMS integration
Push enrollments, completions, and payments to your own systems as they happen. The Webhooks LMS integration sends a signed JSON request for each event.
TL;DR
The Webhooks integration replaces polling the API for changes. LearnWorlds posts event data to your URL as soon as it happens, so your systems get it in real time.
Stop polling for changes. Each event posts to your URL in real time
Skip the blanket alerts. Automations can fire for one certificate you pick
Drop silent failures. LearnWorlds retries a failed delivery up to 20 times
Best for: Developers and operations teams who need LearnWorlds events in their own systems in real time.
Available on Learning Center and above.
What you can do with Webhooks and LearnWorlds
Subscribe to 17 events
Pick the events you need, from registrations and purchases to course completions and tag changes.
Target specific certificates
In User > Automations, choose any trigger and add Send a Webhook so it fires only for the certificate or activity you choose.
Verify each request
Compare the signature header on each request with the signature in Settings > Developers > Webhooks before trusting the payload.
Receive full user context
Payloads carry the user’s profile and tags, plus custom fields and UTM data, along with the event details.
How LearnWorlds and Webhooks integrate
See which LearnWorlds events send a webhook and what your endpoint receives. Each webhook needs a saved URL first, so every row is conditional.
| LearnWorlds | Webhooks | Type of trigger |
|---|---|---|
| User registers or updates a profile, including SSO sign-ups | POST request with the user’s profile, tags, and UTM data | Conditional |
| Product bought or payment created | POST request with payment, product, and user details | Conditional |
| Course or learning program completed | POST request with the completion time and user details | Conditional |
| Subscription paid, updated, or canceled | POST request with the product or plan and user details | Conditional |
| Tags added to or removed from a user | POST request with the user and current tags | Conditional |
What teams ask before connecting
Which LearnWorlds events can trigger a webhook: enrollment, completion, or purchase?
All three, plus 14 more. Free course enrollments, course completions, and purchases each have their own webhook. Leads, certificates, and subscription changes are covered too.
Are webhooks available on all plans, or only certain ones?
Only certain ones. Webhooks are available on Learning Center and above.
Is there a way to test a webhook before going live?
Yes. After you save a webhook URL in Settings > Developers > Webhooks, click Send Dummy Data to post a test request to your endpoint.
How to set up the LearnWorlds and Webhooks integration
You need an endpoint that accepts POST requests, ideally on HTTPS. At the end, LearnWorlds sends live event data to your URL.
1. Prepare your endpoint
Set up a URL that accepts JSON POST requests, and use HTTPS to protect against man-in-the-middle attacks. Requires: a developer or a tool like Zapier that can catch webhooks.
2. Open webhook settings
In your school, go to Settings > Developers > Webhooks.
3. Activate an event
Turn on the event you need, such as When a user is registered/updated. Paste your URL and click Save.
4. Send test data
Click Send Dummy Data and confirm your endpoint received the request.
5. Check the signature
Copy the webhook signature from the same page and compare it with the v1 value in each request header.
6. Add targeted webhooks
For a specific certificate or activity, go to User > Automations. Set a trigger and pick Send a Webhook. For the full setup guide, see the Webhooks help article.
Who uses the Webhooks integration and how
Compliance teams logging specific certificates
A user automation sends a webhook only when a chosen certificate is awarded. The team’s system records it without filtering every certificate event.
Operations teams sending signups to Zapier
A Zapier Catch Hook receives the registered or updated webhook. Each new signup or profile change reaches the next app without a manual export.
